History of Pit Bulls

Rene: My niece is a vet tech in Rochester, Minnesota. The veterinary clinic she works for has the pleasure of caring for Hector, one of the pitbulls rescued from Michale Vick. He is featured in this interesting and encouraging video about the pitbull breed. The Proud History of the Pit Bull. -- http://www.thedogfiles.com/2010/10/11/pit-proud-the-history-of-the-pit-b...

Denise: That is a great video that I hadn't yet seen. Thanks for sharing. I agree that they are the most loyal and loving dogs.

Rene: Here's a fun song about pit bulls, too: I'm a pit bull -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtGT2apOlKw

Gina: Fun song! Great quote too, "(Often) it is not the dog, but the owner that is the problem and pit bulls are not for everyone." This statement applies across all breeds.

Denise: Pit Bulls are not for everyone. They are super intelligent and very strong so they need a dedicated owner to train them and the training is ongoing from birth throughout their lifetime. The owner has to be strong enough not only to handle the breeds enormous strength but also emotionally to take constant negative comments from other people. Bad owners and media hype have caused a lot of problems for the ones of us that work hard with our Pit Bulls.
