Farewell Cosmo

Original post: Pat & Don emailed and said...
"After being blessed with him for 17 years, our beloved Cosmo died this afternoon, (March 24, 2010). He still had the spirit but his body just kept deteriorating and, after an especially bad night & morning when we had to give him a sedative to calm him, it seemed to be time. After he slept it off we took him to Creve Coeur Park (which he always loved) & he ate the beef from two Arby’s roast beef sandwiches (still the chow hound) and then we sat there & let him slowly walk around until he was so tired he was falling asleep. Then we took him home & gave him a sedative & held him until he fell asleep & took him to the vet. He died immediately after the shot while we were petting him. It was very calm & peaceful but the hardest thing we ever had to do in our lives. I probably won’t be able to talk about this for awhile but I wanted you to know he was no longer here. He was a wonderful dog & we will miss him more than I can say.

Reply: I am so sorry for your loss! It sounds like you gave Cosmo a wonderful life and a wonderful last day. What a lucky dog!

Reply: so very very very sorry..Cosmo was a delight and will be missed by all.

Reply: Pat and Don, you are both in our thoughts and prayers. I know how hard it can be. Please grieve and cry all you need to. It is a difficult loss for anyone. He is at rainbow bridge to meet you.

Reply: We just saw each other at the Brentwood Park dog bone hunt. I asked where Cosmo was and you said he was on his last legs. Im so sorry for your loss. I liked the way you spent the last hrs of his day w/ him. Remember all the fun and happy times. Are there any other kind. To Cosmo a wonderful dog and a trooper till the end. Thinking of you.

Reply: Thank you all for your kind words. We really appreciate it. I think only other pet owners can truly understand how deeply it hurts to lose a pet. Pat, Don.
