Riverwoods Trail is a paved wetland trail and 134-acre park on the Missouri River, developed by Great Rivers Greenway and the City of Bridgeton. The site includes a paved multipurpose trail, restrooms, and picnic tables.
The trail offers plentiful scenic views of the Missouri River and historic St. Charles. The trail closely follows the river’s shoreline through wetland forest and allows lots of opportunities for spotting birds and wildlife.
The paved, mostly flat trail begins at the parking lot off of St. Charles Rock Road and proceeds west to the Missouri River. From that point the trail turns south and parallels the river until it ends just short of the Blanchette Bridge. Walking the trail out and back, ends up with a total distance of about 3 miles.
Directions: from I-70 Westbound, take Exit 231B for Earth City Expressway North. Merge onto Earth City Expressway and go on for about 1.5 miles. Turn Left at the stoplight onto St. Charles Rock Road. Go approximately 1/2 mile and the Riverwoods Trail parking lot will be on the left, just as the road starts to split.
(also accessible from Hwy 370 to Earth City, or from the Page extension to Earth City if you want to avoid Hwy 70).
