Matson Hill Park is 475 acres of rugged, heavily forested parkland, which has become the area’s number 1 hiking and biking destination. Offering more than 6 miles of natural surface trails, this historical property is situated in the ‘Daniel Boone Region’ the park reflects the natural surroundings found in the area during the time of Boone’s life.
Oxen Mill = 2.1 miles
Matson Hill Loop = 2.8 miles
Hayes = 2.5 miles
These trails are single track, designed for hike and bike use only. The surface is mostly dirt, with several veins of rock, and rocky creek crossings with waterfalls.
Directions: take Highway 94 to Defiance. Turn right onto Defiance Rd. At the T in the road, go left to stay on Defiance Rd. Follow Defiance Rd 1.1 miles to Howell Rd and turn left. After 0.1 miles, turn right onto Matson Hill Rd. Follow Matson Hill Rd for about 1.2 miles and should see the gravel parking lot on the right.
