Marais Temps Clair Conservation Area is in north St. Charles County. This 918-acre area was once part of an expansive marsh ranging from St. Charles to Alton.
Note: the service roads and the fishing ponds in the waterfowl refuge, are closed to the public from October 15 through February 15 during the duck hunting season.
Directions: from St. Charles take Highway 94 to Route H. Follow Route H northeast to Island Road and go north (turn left) onto Island Road to the area. The Headquarters building is located about 1 1/2 miles past the railroad tracks on Island Road on the right side. The trail head is a bit hidden and is beyond the Headquarters building.
