Horseshoe Lake is located off of Highway 111 in Madison County, IL. The park offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities on the 2,960 acres. There are three playgrounds, two volleyball areas, and five shelters for group picnics with additional smaller areas scattered around the lake.
The lake is also a great spot for fishing, boating and camping in tents or trailers. Hunting is allowed only from the public blinds located on the lake during waterfowl season. Dove hunting is allowed during September on the peninsula. Controlled pheasant hunting is also available at times.
Trails: four miles of hiking trails wander through the natural areas on the island.
