Trails: the Governor Bates Trail is located in the forest section of the park that is home to several animal, plant and bird species. The trail is a wide path that is 1.3 miles of crushed stone, wood chips and dirt with some asphalt that ends at a kid-friendly park. The trail includes some steep hills, that provide a nice view of St. Charles County in late Fall and Winter months. It’s considered a a one-way trail; however, by using existing park sidewalks, roadways and paths, one can easily extend the walk and loop back to the beginning parking lot.
