Bell Mountain Wilderness

The Bell Mountain Wilderness area is located in Mark Twain National Forest, Iron County, Missouri. There are various trails on the mountain. They make the best day hikes in the region. The wonderful view from Bell’s peak is stunning. — Co Rd 2228 and County Road 2936, Kaolin MO 63623.

Hiking north-to-south makes for an easier trip. Trail distance is 8.2 miles (beginning to end). Or do the connector for 4.6 miles (out, then back).

Directions: from Potosi, take Hwy 21 south 17 miles to Hwy 32.  Go west on Hwy 32 for 6.7 miles to Hwy A.  Turn south on Hwy A and look for the sign that says Bell Mountain.

Alert!! Open to hunters during hunting seasons. GPS navigation may not work well in the mountains. Same goes for cell phones. Plan ahead, have directions ready and bring a good map.
